ANNOUNCEMENTS/TODAY'S EVENTS

We have officially turned the calendar to October ending a wonderful September Eagle Nation with great success in athletics, many memories made, and a wonderful Homecoming.  With the flip of the page, sports teams are at the midpoint of their season (except for Golf which is at the end), and getting ready for a strong second-half push.  In the ancient Roman calendar, October was the name of the eighth month of the year. Its name comes from octo, the Latin word for “eight.” When the Romans converted to a 12-month calendar, they tried to rename this month after various Roman emperors, but October’s name stuck!  In Old England, the month was called Winmonath. The English also called it Winterfylleth, or “Winter Full Moon.” They considered this full Moon to be the start of winter. In weather lore, we note, “If October brings heavy frosts and winds, then January and February will be mild.”  Reminder today is also National Taco Day, what a great idea for dinner.

Eagle Nation and the Nest will be busy today as we have eight teams in action.  Golf kicks it off as they host Duanesburgh and then Modified and Varsity Cross Country hosts Mayfield-Northville, NDBG, and Cobleskill-Richmondville.  The boys' and girls' modified soccer teams travel to OESJ, while the JV and Varsity Volleyball teams host Mekeel in a huge WAC match-up.  The evening concludes with the Varsity Girls' Soccer team traveling to Fonda to play under the lights.

The Trap Team is back for the Fall Season! We have seven new members this season, we would like to welcome Natalie W, Gavin C, Aeden L., Henry P., Madeline V., Jamison R., and Cullen S.
On Sunday the 22nd the team went to Pine Tree Rifle Club in Johnstown to shoot. We started at 9 am with trap, and skeet was also available. We shot alongside other junior shooters from the area and had a great time. A huge thank you to Pine Tree for their day of free shooting and lunch for our team!
