Girls Soccer Highlights
The Girls Varsity Soccer team traveled to Canajoharie for a league game under the lights yesterday evening. The opening half was a back-and-forth clash, with both sides trading opportunities. Galway took the lead 17 minutes in when Josie Price played the ball to Mae Budris, who found the back of the net. Keeper Lily Bain, sporting her new pants, was an absolute wall in the first half. She kept her team alive after a couple of dangerous CanjoFP opportunities. After halftime, the girls reset and controlled much of the game's pace. With 20 minutes remaining, Canajorhaie paid the price when Josie P. tapped in a Norah Schaperjahn cross. Senior Captain Eva Anderson set the tone with a physical game at outside back, and Sophomore Maddy Verret gave the team excellent minutes at outside midfielder. With the win, the girls move to 6-2 overall. It is the team's 5th win and shutout in a row. Lily Bain registered her 6th shutout and 98th save of her rookie season.
