ANNOUNCEMENTS/TODAY'S EVENTS

I know it's Monday, but it's also a new day, a new week, and in that lies a new opportunity for something special to happen, Eagle Nation!

The sun is supposed to be out all day, with temperatures reaching the mid- to upper 60s.  Let's hope continues to trend warmer as we approach May.  We do expect some rain to come in during the middle of the week, so be prepared.

We had action on the diamond and track over the weekend, so make sure you check out the scores and highlights.

The school year will be over before we know it, as we only have 33 class days left in high school, so make sure you stay on top of everything.

Spring Sports will be over in the blink of an eye, with only 3 weeks left, so get out to catch some games and meets before it's too late.

As we get into the final stretch of the school year, remember there are many events, so keep tuned in, as there are a lot of moving parts.

HIGHLIGHTS

Softball Highlights

The Galway Varsity Softball team defeated Fonda Friday in a WAC league match-up of undefeated league teams, 21-0. Galway got the bats going early as they pushed across 4 in the top of the 1st, then 6 more in the 2nd inning, and just kept it rolling.  All 9 hitters for the Eagles picked up at least one hit. Led by Kristina Becker, going 4-4 with a single, double, triple, and 6 RBIs, and Courtney Smith going 4 for 5 with a double, 3 singles, 2 RBIs, and 5 runs scored. Avery Menge had two hits with 3 RBIs. Samantha Becker had a double, 2 RBIs, and 4 runs scored.  Kiera Allen added 2 hits, 3 runs, and an RBI
Emma Menge picked up the win in the circle, as she was perfect for 3 innings, not allowing a hit or a base runner and striking out 5.  Avery Menge finished it over the last two innings, only allowing 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 2.  The Eagles move to 4-0 in the league and 8-2 overall after coming off a big week with wins over Duanesburg, Schoharie, and Fonda. They have another busy week this week, with four games (Hartford, Johnstown, Cobleskill-Richmondville, and Taconic Hills) starting today, as they host a non-leaguer against Hartford at 4:30 p.m.
