ANNOUNCEMENTS/TODAY'S EVENTS

Wednesday Wisdom, EAGLE NATION!!!!  When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.  Life on a farm is a school of patience; you can't hurry the crops or make an ox in two days.  More rain is in the forecast, and much needed.  It was a very successful and busy night for athletics last night, so make sure to check out the scores and highlights.  We are cruising through Homecoming Week with a lot more events to come; we hope you can join us to support our athletes and seniors.   We have a DUNK TANK this year.  It will take place at the soccer game on Saturday evening.  Come try to dunk some of your administrators and coaches.  Volleyball Senior recognition is on Friday, starting at 4:45.  Boys & Girls Soccer, Cross Country, and Trap Senior recognition is Saturday at the Soccer Field, starting at 4:30 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS

Volleyball Highlights

Congratulations to the Varsity volleyball team as they defeated Middleburgh last night in a WAC league match-up, 25-16, 25-8, 25-8.  Kiera Allen led the Eagles with 10 kills, 3 Aces, and 2 blocks.  Samantha Becker and Emma Menge added 5 kills and 2 blocks each.  Kenzie Gardiner dished out 14 assists for the Eagles.  Galway moves to 4-0 in the league and 5-0 overall. The Eagles travel to Mekeel on Thursday for a showdown of unbeaten teams. 

  • The JV Volleyball team swept Middleburgh with set scores of 25-9 and 25-14. Avery Menge led the way in serving with 8 aces and 15 points scored. Estelle Hall led the way in kills, Harleigh Hill led in blocks, and Mara Allen led in assists. The team moves to 3-1 in the league.

Girls Soccer Highlights

The Galway Girls Varsity Soccer team traveled to Johnstown yesterday to take on the Lady Bills. The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board, striking in the fifth minute when Olivia Davison-Gauss sent a perfectly placed long ball across the field to Norah Schaperjahn, who buried the early goal.

Galway continued to apply offensive pressure throughout the second half, creating several strong chances, but the opening strike would prove to be the difference. Backed by a steady defensive effort, the Eagles held on to secure the 1–0 victory.

With the win, Galway improves to 3–2 overall and 2–1 in league play.

Cross Country Highlights

Yesterday at Duanesburg, the Galway Cross Country team was in action against Mayfield, Duanesburg, and Canjo-Ft. Plain-OESJ.
  • For boys modified, Henry Pasieka and Wyatt D Slosek led Galway with a 4th and 5th place finish.
  • For modified girls, Elizabeth Van Ness came in 2nd. 
  • For the girls' varsity team, Ailey Nelson and Amelia Jordan finished 4th and 5th, as their team was incomplete.
  • The varsity boys were led by Gabe Mele, and their pack running enabled them to defeat Duanesburg 15-0, Mayfield 25-30, and Canjo-Ft. Plain-OESJ 22 to 33.

Boys Soccer Highlights

Galway's defense started strong. The high-scoring Johnstown team didn't score until 25 minutes into the game. The score would be 1-0 at halftime. 12 minutes into the second half, Johnstown scored again on a rebound off of Galway's keeper Hayden Flint. The score would remain 2-0 until 10 minutes left in the game, where Johnstown would tack on 3 more goals. The final score was in favor of Johnstown, 5-0. Galway's goalie Hayden Flint had another impressive 14-save game.  With the loss, the Eagles fall to 0-7-1 overall and 0–6 in league play.
