ANNOUNCEMENTS/TODAY'S EVENTS

Start your day with a smile on this Thursday Eagle Nation!!!  The cold and wind are still bearing down on us with the trend continuing through next week, so you might as well get out of the cold and catch some athletic events.  We had a full slate of games on the hardwood last night.  Overall things didn't go the Eagle's way, but they all fought hard.  Wrestling is on the road tonight and the Modified Girls Basketball host Fonda. We've had several schedule changes, so please keep checking our schedule updates below.  Four days will be the next Full Moon and 70 days till Spring.

HIGHLIGHTS

Girls Basketball Highlights

The Varsity Girls Basketball team hosted Cobleskill-Richmondville last night.  A first-half battle got away from the Eagles in the second half.  The Eagles went into the half down by 7, but the Bulldogs came out on fire in the second half out-scoring the Eagles 31-12.  Kiera Allen led the Eagles with 13 points.  The Eagles fall to 6-4 on the season and 4-1 in the league.

  • The JV team also hosted Cobleskill-Richmondville and came out on fire running out to a big lead over the Bulldogs.  The Bulldogs made a charge in the 4th quarter, but the Eagles maintained their composure and held off the surging Bulldogs for a 43-40 win.

Boys Basketball Highlights

The Boys JV and Varsity teams traveled to Cobleskill-Richmondville to take on a strong Bulldogs program.  The Eagles put up a valent effort, but both came up short.  Hayden Flint had 11 points and Chase Maher added 7 points. The Varsity team falls to 1-10 on the season and 0-5 in league play.  

  • The JV team was led by Joshua Eaton with 21 points and Evan Schaperjahn with 11 points.  The Eagles fell to 2-9 on the season and 0-5 in the league.
The Modified Boys teams traveled to BKW last night to battle a tough BKW program.  Both teams fell to the Bulldogs.  The Blue team fell 24-36 and the Gold team fell 33-63.  Issac Schaperjahn had 12 points for the Gold team.



ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Avery Menge

Avery brings competitive energy into practices and games, which helps push her teammates to improve daily. She is a big contributor in rebounding for our modified team and is also averaging 6 points per game. Avery displays good leadership on and off the court, which is a quality of a Golden Eagle.

Evan Schaperjahn

Evan Schaperjahn knocked down two clutch free throws to send the JV Basketball team into the Championship game at the Riverhawk tourney, which was also their first win. Evan then played in the championship after getting stitches from the previous game led the in scoring and led the defensive front to secure the championship.  Evan works hard in practice every day and is a leader on the court for his teammates.
