ANNOUNCEMENTS/TODAY'S EVENTS

HAPPY MONDAY EAGLE NATION!!! Welcome back to a full week of action as the Fall Sports regular season wraps up. The Boys Varsity Soccer team finished their season with a heart-breaking 1-0 loss to Middleburgh. The Varsity Girls won a thrilling game against Berlin-New Lebanon and await their sectional pairing that comes out later today. The Boys and Girls Modified Soccer teams finish their season tonight as both host Middleburgh. The JV Volleyball travels to Schulyerville and the Modified Volleyball teams host Johnstown.

There are a few happenings at Eagle Nation this week outside of sports. PTSA Family Fun Night is on Thursday in the elementary school. The Galway Friends of Music hosts their annual Coffeehouse on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Gym. Friday is also Dress like the '50s.

Today is National Apple Pie and Pumpkin Cheesecake Day! On this date in 1879, Thomas Edison presented his electric light bulb after 14 months of research and over 1,200 experiments.

HIGHLIGHTS

Volleyball Highlights

The Varsity Volleyball traveled to Millbrook in Section 9 to play several downstate and Long Island teams. The girls went 5-5 on the day against some great competition. The girls wrapped up their regular season this week.

The Blue Modified team continued their successful season as they beat Schoharie 25-16, 25-12. The Gold team fell to Schoharie 17-25, 21-25.

Cross Country Highlights

The Galway XC team rocked the Fort Plain Invy.

The Varsity Boys won the Division 1 race with Simon Evans winning the race overall.
- For the Varsity Race, all 7 of the boys medaled
  - Simon Evans won 1st
  - Cody Schneider 4th
  - Trevor Bombard 5th
  - Jacob Bruchac 9th
- Elenor Douglas was first for the Galway girls with a 26th-place
- For the JV Boys
  - Evan Morris came in 3rd
  - Will Anuszewski came in 4th
  - Brody Patrick came in 9th
Ailey Nelson won the girl's modified race.
The modified boys' team took 1st place in their race too! Isaac Schaperjahn came in 2nd and Gabe Mele came in 3rd.

Girls Soccer Highlights

The Varsity Girls Soccer team concluded its regular season on Friday night as they traveled to Waterford to play Berlin-New Lebanon under the lights. The Eagles struck first just three minutes into the game as Brielle Cameron found the back of the net on a through ball by Anna Spadaro. That lone goal was the difference as both teams battled back in forth, but the Eagles held strong for the 1-0 victory. The Eagles now await to hear their Sectional Pairing later today.
