Bus Transportation for 2024-25

Dear Galway Families,Β
As we prepare for the 2024-25 school year, we want to make you aware of some important changes to our drop-off, pick-up, and bus transportation procedures.

CHANGES

  • Parent drop-off for students will now begin at 7:15 a.m. Students in grades Pre-K-5 will be directed to the elementary gym, and students in grades 6-12 will be directed to the Jr. Sr. High School cafeteria. The elementary gym will be divided into two stations, one for grades PreK-2, and one for grades 3-5. All students who would like to eat breakfast will be escorted to the cafeteria at 7:35 a.m.Β

  • When children are not riding the bus due to illness or appointments, etc., parents must make the changes in School Dismissal Manager. This applies to all students Pre-K-12 for morning, afternoon, and the late run. If you need help setting up School Dismissal Manager, please contact Building Secretaries, Mary Henry at the Jr. Sr. High School (518-882-1033 x3200) or Britt Keller at the Joseph Henry Elementary School (518-882-1033 x4240). Β

  • Bus Transportation is provided for all students 4 years of age and above. Three-year-olds attending our PreK are transported by parents only. One week prior to your child turning 4, please contact the Transportation Department and complete the Transportation Form on Parent Square.

  • Please complete the 2024-25 Transportation Form in ParentSquare (below) for each child by July 19, 2024.

  • There is no idling when waiting in the parent drop-off/pick-up lines, at both the Elementary and Junior/Senior High School buildings.
REMINDERS

As a reminder, the following procedures will remain in place:
  • Large instruments or any other large items will not be allowed on the bus as they are a safety hazard.
  • Students are picked up at the same location five days a week, and are dropped off five days a week. The pickup location may be different from the drop-off location.Β
  • When your child/ren are not riding the bus, make sure to enter the change in School Dismissal Manager. If having difficulty, contact the Transportation Department at (518) 882-1077 by 6:30 a.m. to notify them of the change and please contact the building main office for assistance with School Dismissal Manager.
  • Clearly display your house number so that it may be seen by the bus driver.
  • For Pre-K through grade 2, please submit the names of any adult who will meet the bus during the afternoon run on the 2024-2025 Transportation Form below.
  • Your child/ren's bus driver will contact you during the last week of August to inform you of approximate pickup and drop-off times.
REVIEW

Please review the following safety guidelines and procedures with your child/ren:
  • Students must be at their bus stop 5-minutes prior to pick up time.
  • Students must remain in their seats while the bus is in motion. Arms, head, and hands are to remain inside the bus at all times.Β
  • Students who must cross are to walk 15-feet in front of the bus and only after the bus driver has motioned for them to cross.
  • Electronic devices are not allowed to be used on the bus unless the student has prior approval from the administration.
  • There is no eating or drinking on the bus.
