Congratulations Top 10 Seniors

Valedictorian Magdalene Maciag is the daughter of Paula and Robert Maciag of Galway. Magdalene began the district’s first Festival of Nations during her junior year as an effort to increase cultural exposure, understanding, and appreciation. She continued the event her senior year and expanded its impact by making it a benefit for the Galway Food Pantry. She was a member of Yearbook Club since sixth grade, president of National Honor Society, a member of Masterminds, a contributor to Eagles Media Center, a weekly volunteer at the Galway Public Library for six years, and a prolific artist and proponent of Galway’s thriving arts program. Magdalene has looked forward to an artistic career for many years. Her goals include humanitarian work alongside illustration, which she plans to bolster through studying political science and international relations at McGill University in Montréal. In the years to come, Magdalene plans to continue illustrating educational children’s books for Unbridled Thoroughbred Foundation and acquiring her bachelor’s degree to work in editorial illustration for non-profit organizations.
Salutatorian McKenna Kanaby is the daughter of Dannielle and Michael Kanaby of Middle Grove. She is the vice president of the Class of 2025, vice president of the Science Club, vice president of the Leo’s Club, and a member of Galway TV, Eagles Media Center, National Honor Society, and Yearbook Club. McKenna is a three-sport varsity athlete who played soccer, basketball, and ran track. She was captain of both the varsity soccer and varsity basketball teams her senior year. She was named a WAC Second Team All-Star in soccer for her junior and senior soccer seasons, received the 2025 Scholar-Athlete Award for Galway for Section 2 girls’ basketball, and was named Galway’s Female Athlete of the Year for 2025. McKenna plans to attend Colgate University in the fall to study environmental studies on a pre-law track.
Sofia Davison-Gauss is president of the Class of 2025, president of Science Club, and public relations manager for Student Council. She is a member of National Honor Society, Galway TV, Yearbook Club, and Leo’s Club. Sofia has been an Academic Scholar throughout her high school career and a multi-sport student-athlete. She played varsity soccer for three years and was a captain for two. She ran varsity track for two years and competed in alpine ski racing. Sofia is excited to attend Brown University where she will study geophysics and climate physics and continue her ski racing career. She is the daughter of Christine Gauss and Mark Davison of Galway.
Heather Ehrenberg is secretary of the Science Club, Class of 2025, and Leo Club. She is a student-athlete; morning anchor on Galway TV; and member of National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and Student Council. Heather consistently maintained Academic Scholar throughout high school and received awards including the Lions Club’s Citizenship Award, Russell Sage College’s Student Sage Award, and sports awards including Track Most Improved and Coach Martin’s Sasquatch Award. She also regularly volunteers at the Saratoga County Animal Shelter. Heather is excited to attend the University of Pittsburgh in the fall where she will major in biology on the pre-physician assistant track. She is the daughter of Jillian and Jeff Ehrenberg of Galway.
Addelayde Ross is a young leader who spent her high school career caring for others. She was president of Best Buddies for five years and advocated for inclusivity for students within the group. Most recently, she served countless hours as a volunteer firefighter in West Charlton. She is a strong believer of living your life for others and giving back to the community, as evidenced by the Winter Clothing Drive she coordinated during her junior year. Addelayde will attend SUNY Cobleskill to earn her paramedic license. She is the proud daughter of Christina Swierzowski and Robert Ross of Galway.
Simon Evans is a student-athlete who competed in both cross country and track and field, acting as an integral leader to both teams. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, and Galway TV. Simon participated in Odyssey of the Mind for many years, making it all the way to World Championships one year, where the team earned first place in the long-term solution and fourth place overall in their division. He plans to attend Daemen University next fall to continue his running career and major in physical therapy. Simon is the son of Nichole and Shaun Evans of Middle Grove.
Taylor Germain is president of Students Against Destructive Decisions, assistant editor of Impressions, treasurer of Student Council, anchor for Galway TV, and a member of National Honor Society. She participated in Odyssey of the Mind for 13 years, making it all the way to World Championships one year, where the team earned first in the long-term solution and fourth place overall in their division. Taylor is a student-athlete who competed on varsity soccer for five years and varsity basketball for four years. She also ran varsity track and field for three years and varsity cross-country for one year. Taylor earned Academic Scholar all throughout high school. She plans to attend Wentworth Institute of Technology to study architecture or interior design in Boston, MA. Taylor is the daughter of Peggy Germain of Amsterdam and the late George Germain.
Tyler Friedman is a three-sport athlete who competed in baseball, basketball and soccer. He was a captain of both the basketball and soccer teams. He was named to the WAC All-Star First Team for both soccer and baseball. He also skipped sixth grade. Tyler plans to attend the University of Vermont to major in civil engineering. He is the son of Amanda Groff and Barry Friedman of Providence.
Mariska Leszczynski is president of Drama Club and Impressions and treasurer of National Honor Society. She is the chapter reporter of Galway FFA and won first in state for her reporter’s portfolio. She also earned her Empire Degree, which is the highest honor students can receive at the state level. Mariska has a love of the arts and participating in state, county, and school choirs. She has been in numerous art shows, earning recognition for her skills. Mariska has been an Academic Scholar throughout high school and is excited to attend Clarkson University in the fall to pursue a degree in civil engineering. Mariska is the daughter of Sarah and Jason Leszczynski of Galway.
Trevor Bombard is the president of Galway TV, co-president of Student Council, and the first student to complete the Engineering Pathway to graduation at Galway. He is a three-sport varsity scholar-athlete who competed in soccer and track for four years and in cross country for one year. During the fall season of his senior year, Trevor was a dual sport athlete ~ captain of the soccer team and part of the cross country team that won a Sectional Championship and went on to compete in the state championship. He also earned his Eagle Scout Rank in Boy Scouts of America. Trevor will be attending Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall to major in mechanical engineering - automotive. He is the son of Michelle and Mark Bombard of Galway.
Riley Kress is co-editor and senior photographer of the Yearbook Club, delegate of Girl Scouts Service Unit 21, president of GSA, vice president of National Honor Society, secretary of Galway Drama Club, a member of Chamber Singers, and an anchor for Galway TV. She is excited to attend SUNY Brockport in the fall to major in history education. Riley is the daughter of Shanon and Erich Kress of Galway.
