Galway BOE Announces Next Superintendent

Galway Central School District Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Miller as the next superintendent of the district. The appointment was made at the most recent Board meeting on February 20, 2025. Mr. Miller is currently the principal of Galway Junior/Senior High School, a position he has held since March of 2017.
“We are happy to promote Mr. Miller to the superintendent position,” said Galway CSD Board of Education President Jay Anderson. “He has proven himself to be a consummate professional who is very dedicated to the students and their accomplishments. He has significant leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and is fully qualified to continue working toward the district goals, many of which Mr. Miller himself identified.”
To ensure a smooth transition, Mr. Miller will work with Interim Superintendent Mark Fish through the end of June and take the reins on July 1, 2025. This leadership transition was precipitated by the retirement of longtime Superintendent Brita Donovan Ed.D., whose last day in the district was January 31, 2025.
Mr. Miller began his career at Saratoga Springs City School District as a social studies teacher. After 17 years, he became the principal at Galway CSD. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in History from LeMoyne College and Masters in Curriculum Development in Technology from the University at Albany. He holds a Certificate of Advanced Study, Educational Leadership from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.
“I am excited to continue serving Galway Central School District as the next superintendent,” said Mr. Miller. “I love all the students, parents, faculty, staff, and community members, and hope to continue in Dr. Donovan’s footsteps to ensure a high quality educational experience for all of our students.”
Mr. Miller and his wife, Meghan, live in Milton. They have two children – Catherine, a Freshman at Stonehill College, and Andrew, who is a sophomore at Galway CSD. He is an avid history buff, loves baseball (especially the Yankees), and enjoys golf and spending time with his family.
