Galway Central School District has an opening and is now accepting applications for a School Secretary for the Elementary Office.
12 months per year. 40 hours per week. Excellent Benefits. Salary is $17/hour.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
This position involves responsibility for performing a variety of complex and confidential secretarial duties. This position is responsible for typing letters, reports and other confidential materials, and relieving the department head of administrative details by arranging conferences and contacts.
The position of School Secretary is a competitive Saratoga County Civil Service position. Candidates must meet Civil Service requirements for appointment. Candidates must currently hold the title of School Secretary or be reachable on the Civil Service list when available. If list is not available, this will be a provisional appointment and the successful candidate must take the SCCS exam and be reachable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Graduation from a New York State regionally accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree in Secretarial Science or a closely related field and one (1) year of clerical experience which involved the operation of a computer for word-processing, database or spreadsheet applications; OR
2. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of clerical experience which involved the operation of a computer for word-processing, database or spreadsheet applications.
