ANNOUNCEMENTS/TODAY'S EVENTS

Wishing you a great Thursday morning.  We're almost to the weekend, so hang in there Eagle Nation!  Remember everything is either an opportunity to learn and grow or an obstacle that keeps you stuck.  You get to choose.  

  • Our hearts go out to the people, family, and friends of the tragic accident that occurred last night outside the Regan National Airport over the Potomac River.  

It's bitter cold with whipping winds out there; make sure to bundle up and stay warm.  The weather looks like a rough stretch of cold and snow over the next few days.  Stay strong Eagle Nation and think Spring.  Spring sports open gyms have started (check the times below)!!!  Be sure to check below for the rest of the Winter Sports Season schedule as are winding down the Winter season.  The NASCAR Clash is this  Sunday at historic Boman Gray Stadium at 8:00 p.m. on FOX.

  • There are only 49 days till Spring and just 9 days until Spring Training begins with Pitchers and Catchers reporting or MLB.  It's just 16 days until the DAYTONA 500.  Let's get ready to start those engines.  It is 67 days till the Masters in Augusta, Georgia, and 151 days until Wimbledon.

TRAP SHOOTING TEAM
  • Registration opens February 4th
  • Open to grades 6-12
  • Must be 12 years old or older
  • No equipment or experience is required
  • Practices/Matches are Thursdays 230-430 and/or Sundays 12-4

HIGHLIGHTS

Girls Basketball Highlights

The Varsity Girls hosted Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons last night and won 46-18. 3 of the 5 seniors were recognized for senior night. Captain Mckenna Kanaby had 4 points, Taylor Germain had 4 and Bridey Flint chipped in with 2. Senior Captain Anna Spadaro and Lilly Fredericks were out with illness but will be honored at the next home game against state-ranked Northville on February 5th. Kierra Allen led the way with 18 points, Brielle Cameron had 8, and Kiersten Friday joined them with 6 points for the night.

Boys Basketball Highlights

Last night the varsity boys traveled to Norte Dame Bishop Gibbons where they lost a closely contested game 72 to 58. Hayden Flint led the way for the Eagles with 20 points.  Sam Reedy added 13 points, Tyler Friedman had 9 points, and Chase Maher had 8 points.  Galway put 7 players in the scoring column. On Friday, the boys host BKW who is ranked as one of the top teams for Class C in New York State.
  • The Boys JV basketball also traveled to Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons last night and turned in an incredible performance.  The Eagles trailed the Knights for most of the game including into the last minute of the game.  The Eagles ramped up their intensity late in the fourth period and forced a few crucial turnovers as the Eagles were able to tie the game with 6 seconds left.  Then Evan Schaperjahn stole the inbounds pass and scored the game-winner with 2 seconds in the game to give the Eagles a 57-55 victory. Josh Eaton led the way with 20 points. Grayson Eagan chipped in 15 points and Evan Schaperjahn added 14 points.



ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Darren Munchbach

Darren is an 8th grader on the Boys' JV basketball team and plays the majority of the time during the games. He shows up ready to work every day and always has a positive attitude. He continues to improve every day. He most recently was our leading scorer in the game against  OESJ.
